    Exactly what I’m doing for my dog behind the back landscaping where he likes to run. My flagstones are oddly shaped, though, but it will be better than the cardboard pieces I laid down to kill the weeds! Thanks! I didn’t even think of the sand! Better get some!

    Curious question. How tall is your back rest piece? Building this with my son tomorrow. My put padding on the back rest as well! Would appreciate the height of that back rest piece! Thanks in advance!

    For the actual step (top) what boards did you use? Were those 2x6’s or some other kind of boards?

    • @TheUnprofessional
      @TheUnprofessional 23 дні тому

      They are standard deck boards, which are about 1 inch thick by 5 1/2 inches wide.

    He is too cute!! I have a question... Do the worms go in and out of the baskets back into the soil? What would happen if they were put into a compost pile in the making? I'm barely starting my composting and am curious if I could just add them to that!

    • @TheUnprofessional
      @TheUnprofessional 24 дні тому

      Thanks! My worms are basically free range, so I imagine some will leave and never return. But I figure as long as I feed them and keep the space from getting too hot and dry, most will stick around. I wouldn’t add worms to an existing compost pile because it can get pretty hot in a big pile. Worm composting is shallow so that the heat can escape, and has less of the green to brown ratio. Although honestly I don’t focus on the ratio for the worms. I just try not to over feed them. Good luck!

    Very nice. I love the look of a louvered door. Your tip about dropping the door opening down to accommodate a regular door is super. I have a Restore Store near me, and can probably purchase an inexpensive used door from them for my own barn door project. I was holding my breathe vvatching you vvork sans eye protection, and also thought it might've been a good idea to have on vvork gloves for the demo part. (Sorry, my "VV" key is broken.)

    Paver base goes over the stone (which should also be compacted). Paver base, by name, goes under (hypothetical) pavers as it can be set to a grade, not a rough stone surface.

    • @TheUnprofessional

      I used a few different sizes because of the angles. I bought 2 inch and ripped it all down on a table saw to the specifications I needed.

    I absolutely love this project - great way to build utilizing the fence as a back wall - looks great. Can you PLEASE tell me what color your stain is for the picket wall slats? I am needing a color to match "weathered wood" shingles on my house, but darker almost like Japanese shou sugi ban. I will be watching this video many times over as I have a tall fence project to do that I want to attach this shed to. I think I will be using your video where you used cedar slats on the 8 foot fence for your friend. By the way, I'm female and 70 yo!

    You're so patient...good job...question, you didn't show you installed the door glide stabilizers at the bottom on your wood floor. Did You? and what does one need to do if there is carpet instead. Do you really need glides at the bottom? Thanks!

    • @TheUnprofessional
      @TheUnprofessional 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! Yes, I did install a floor guide. I think you can get away without one to be honest, but my kids would probably bring the whole thing crashing down so I added it. There are options that attach to the door frame that are compatible with carpet.

    • @TheUnprofessional

      Nope, not rusty at all. The shed has been totally dry despite the fence as the back wall. The roof has an overhang so I think that has kept the water out.
